Role Summary:

The Senior Research Associate in neuromuscular research helps to develop new therapies for neuromuscular diseases. This role is involved in all aspects of in vitro/in vivo neuromuscular disease biology, evaluating efficacy, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and mechanisms of action of our therapeutic molecules. The ideal individual for this position is an innovative and collaborative team player and an ambitious self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced team setting.

This is a full-time position based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute, and analyze in vitro and in vivo studies to profile therapeutic candidates and drive progression of research projects from research to clinical development
  • Contribute technically and intellectually to development of new assays aimed at answering key neuromuscular disease questions
  • Execute assays to drive optimization of the FORCE™ platform
  • Communicate findings to team members and management
  • Contribute to building a positive culture of teamwork and scientific excellence
  • Document research efforts and maintain proper records

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • BS/MS or equivalent in a relevant biological discipline and 1-3 years of hands-on biotech/biopharma or academic experience
  • Extensive experience conducting in vivo studies with small rodents including:
    • Dosing by several routes of administration
    • Tissue collection and processing for downstream assays
  • High degree of proficiency with standard histological protocols such as tissue-fixation, embedding, sectioning, immunofluorescence, and immunohistochemistry
  • Proficiency with molecular biology techniques, including:
    • Cell culture
    • ELISA and other plate-based assays.
    • Western blots
    • Gene expression analysis by qPCR or digital PCR
    • Molecular cloning
  • Hands-on experience developing in vitro cell-based and cell-free assay is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with DNA and RNA sequencing techniques is desirable
  • Ability to communicate ideas and document research effectively and clearly
  • Highly organized and collaborative
  • Experienced in the use of software applications such as Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, and SnapGene (or equivalent)
