Role Summary:

Dyne is seeking a Scientist – Platform Discovery. The Scientist – Platform Discovery will collaborate closely with early research and program teams to support the discovery and characterization of new targets and therapies.  The successful candidate will bring innovative ideas to solve complex problems and communicate effectively within and across functions to advance research activities.

This role is based in Waltham, Massachusetts, without the possibility of being a remote role. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, optimize and execute in vitro assays for screening, characterization and optimization of novel drug candidates
  • Analyze the potency, efficacy and potential safety lability of therapeutic materials
  • Study the impact of new drug candidates on muscle biology and signaling pathways
  • Explore and validate novel targets to expand our FORCE platform
  • Contribute to critical discussions of therapeutic structure, activity, and function
  • Present data to internal and external audiences via talks, abstracts, posters, and original manuscripts

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • A PhD in biology, biochemistry, or a similar field with at least 2 years of hands-on industry experience in early drug discovery, or equivalent academia experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and in vitro cell-based assays (Flow Cytometry, Fluorescence Microscopy, FRET/BRET, cell reporter systems)
  • Experience with biochemical and pharmacological assays (Western blot, ELISA)
  • Experience in molecular biology (cloning, qPCR)
  • Experience characterizing signaling pathways and deciphering mechanism of actions of therapeutic material
  • Ability and motivation to rapidly learn and apply new technologies
  • Knowledge of muscle biology is desired but not a must
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and document research
  • Experienced in software applications (Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, ELN)
