Role Summary:

Dyne is seeking a Scientist – Platform Development. The Scientist – Platform Development will collaborate closely with in vitro/in vivo biology colleagues to generate and characterize research materials and will also help establish and contribute to the operations of our laboratories.

This role is based in Waltham, Massachusetts, without the possibility of being a remote role. 

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, optimize and execute protein conjugations on multiple proteins and multiple payloads- including NHS ester, maleimide, ranging from milligram to gram scale.
  • Using AKTA systems, perform purifications on protein conjugates on multiple proteins and multiple payloads, ranging from milligram to gram scale.
  • Activate multiple payloads with various linkers from milligram to gram scale.
  • Purify multiple active linker-payloads from milligram to gram scale.
  • Perform biochemical analysis on in-process and final purified conjugates, including the following techniques: Mass Spectrometry (MS), CE-IEF, CE-SDS, SDS-PAGE, BCA, SEC-HPLC, and uv-vis.
  • Perform Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF; UF/DF) from the milliliter to multi-Liter scale.
  • Serve as project lead and subject matter expert (SME) in both in-house and external meetings and communications.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior lab members and/or co-ops.
  • Contribute to company intellectual property (IP) by communicating, in both spoken and written terms, technical details to IP attorneys.
  • Write technical reports to support technical transfer(s) to CDMOs.
  • Contribute to critical discussions of therapeutic structure, function, and new targets across all company levels.
  • Maintain an electronic lab notebook in a timely manner.

Education & Skill Requirements

BS or equivalent in Chemistry or Biochemistry and 2 years of experience in drug discovery and development OR MS in Chemistry or Biochemistry with coursework or research in drug discovery and development.

Other Requirements:

  • Must have contributed to at least 1 scientific publication
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in each of the following:
    • Conjugation techniques- including NHS Ester and Maleimide chemistry
    • Purifying, analyzing and characterizing conjugates
    • Using preparative purification systems
    • Chromatographic separation (e.g. SEC, HIC, IEX)
    • Mass Spectrometry (MS)
    • Protein biochemical assays- including SDS-PAGE, ELISA, and uv-vis
