Role Summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, talented and growing organization. This position reports directly to the Director of Accounting as part of the growing finance team and cross-functional colleagues. Working in a growing company that recently went public, this position gives the individual the opportunity to shape financial reporting policies and procedures as the Finance function grows. The External Reporting Manager will be responsible for all internal and external financial reporting including leading technical accounting efforts.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for the SEC reporting timelines and preparation of 10-Q, 10-K and other SEC filings including financial statements, footnote disclosures and MD&A to ensure timely and accurate filings
  • Oversee the preparation and review of XBRL to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assistance with quarterly and annual Earnings Release, Investor Decks and other outside communications as appropriate.
  • Assist with administration and preparation of SEC filings for Section 16 officers (i.e. Form 3, Form 4) and ensure filed on timely basis
  • Research and document disclosure requirements for significant unusual transactions
  • Works directly with various personnel, including members of senior management, in other departments to obtain information necessary to ensure accurate disclosures in the Company’s financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate internal controls as business process owner with appropriate records and documentation for SOX 404 compliance
  • Implement and maintain financial reporting system (active disclosure/Workiva) and related analysis that support the preparation of SEC filings.
  • Coordination and preparation of disclosure committee procedures
  • Leads other external reporting projects
  • Research and identify new accounting standards, including working collaboratively with the broader finance team to implement and operationalize
  • Assist in ad hoc technical accounting research and analysis as needed by the Company

Education and Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field is required
  • CPA is required; MBA or Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 4-8 years of combined Public Accounting and Private Industry accounting experience; Life Science industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX and SEC reporting is required
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions and build key external relationships with auditors, lawyers, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are mandatory
  • Ability to manage and complete projects with time constraints
  • Ability to identify and learn software tools to help improve efficiencies
  • Ability to successfully work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
