Role Summary:
The Director of Platform Development will report to the Head of Platform Development and is responsible for leading the design, synthesis and analytical strategy of oligonucleotide conjugates from hit finding through drug candidate nomination. S/he will manage internal and external resources and supply chain to support key deliverables and timelines. Candidate will use creative and proactive problem-solving strategies to progress conjugation design and development in support of Dyne’s therapeutic pipeline. Ideal candidate is a proven, effective team leader, clearly articulating progress updates and fostering information flow across research, data science and CMC teams, supporting all stages of preclinical therapeutic development. S/he will work in a collaborative, constructive and mission-oriented focus for improving the lives of patients.
This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role. Applicants must be able to relocate to the area.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Manage a team of technical and subject matter experts responsible for developing consistent, high-yielding, high-purity, scalable and economical processes for research and development materials
- Lead the design and execution strategy for platform conjugation and manage budgetary and growth needs to support research deliverables.
- Manage supply chain of raw materials to support conjugation scales across all workstreams and projects.
- Select and manage third-party vendors and collaborators, developing a strong network to support innovation and production
- Support critical operations as needed across research and CMC functions
- Identify and purchase lab-scale equipment to expand capacity and enhance capabilities in process characterization, analytics, and conjugation support/trouble shooting.
- Perform data interpretation, write and review reports, articulate key information enabling decision making and prepare scientific publications and presentations
Education and Skills Requirements:
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline; with >12 years of relevant experience in drug discovery and development
- Strong practical knowledge of design, synthesis, and applications of small molecules, biologics, oligonucleotides and conjugation strategies
- Excellent project, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills, including ability to work across functional lines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including making effective and compelling presentations in both large and small groups and communicating complex scientific and nonscientific issues to program teams
- Ability to critically evaluate, summarize, interpret data
- Understand published scientific literature outside of his/her immediate area of expertise and appropriately apply this understanding to company aspects
- Prepare manuscripts and other documents for publication and/or regulatory submission
