Role Summary

Dyne is seeking a highly motivated Co-Op to participate in research on innovative oligonucleotide therapeutics for rare neuromuscular disease. You will apply your computational skills to the engineering and analysis of data in our drug discovery programs. In partnership with biologists, bioinformatics and platform scientists, you will work with complex drug discovery, multi-omics, and preclinical datasets. Using methods for data transformation and visualization, you will enable insights about novel therapeutic strategies and their potential to impact disease. The successful candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, enjoy learning new skills and working in a fast-paced environment. Dyne’s Co-Op program offers students the opportunity to learn and work at a cutting-edge company in the biotech industry. This an exceptional opportunity for student to be exposed to many facets of the company and learn about drug discovery from Dyne’s muscle disease programs.

This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role. This role will be for a 6 month period beginning in January 2023.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Preprocessing and analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) datasets.
  • Integration, and visualization of preclinical data sets generated by biology and platform development teams.
  • Development of extensible methods to capture therapeutic design and activity data to enable search and use by scientists.
  • Mining of bioassay data about potency, stability, and manufacturability of DNA- and RNA-based therapies.
  • Development of computer-based methods with regular communication of progress to the project team and accurate records of technical work.
  • Presentation of learnings and findings to the team at the end of the Co-Op term.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Undergraduate student in a relevant field, such as bioinformatics, cheminformatics, applied mathematics, or computer science or equivalent experience
  • Programming experience in R and/or Python; familiarity with code management and notebook IDE such as jupyter
  • Hands-on analysis experience with biological data types, such as transcriptomics and proteomics
  • Understanding of biochemical assays such as HPLC, western blot, ELISA, etc.
  • Understanding of relational databases, SQL, json, or other data management structures
  • Familiarity with statistical learning methods, such as supervised and unsupervised modeling
  • Strong organizational skills and solid written and oral communication ability
