Role Summary:

The Associate Director or Bioinformatics is a newly created role within Dyne’s growing research organization that will provide essential bioinformatic support for Dyne’s drug discovery and development programs.  This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to shape the computational infrastructure at a young and agile biotech company.  In this position, the candidate will conduct bioinformatics analyses of internal and external datasets to support the progression of our pipeline from target identification and will leverage systems biology approaches to understand mechanisms of action and off-targeting potential of oligo therapeutics. The successful candidate will work across functions to perform integrative analyses of transcriptomic, genetic, key pathways, and real-world datasets with the goal of improving understanding of disease biology and developing translational biomarkers.  Support of due diligence efforts for external assets and collaboration with academic leaders will be expected.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Utilize advanced computational and bioinformatics methods to address translational questions related to biomarker identification for patient segmentation
  • Select the appropriate data sets and analytical approaches for drug target identification and validation to support discovery research
  • Work with study and program teams to achieve program goals and provides deliverables in approved timeframes
  • Develop new analysis tools and databases to meet project and program needs
  • Work with IT to establish data infrastructure and storage solutions
  • Review and interprets scientific knowledge of competitor landscape
  • Participate with team members to prepare abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations for external meetings
  • Lead bioinformatics analyses to drive drug target identification, translational research and clinical biomarker selection

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or other biomedical sciences with a minimum of five years' experience in applying bioinformatics approaches to drug discovery/development, preferably in a biopharma setting
  • 5+ years of biotech/pharmaceutical drug development experience
  • Demonstrated experience in rare disease data analyses, including experience with developing pipelines for next-generation sequencing data analysis and QC
  • Strong background working with, analyzing and integrating large data sets across different experimental methodologies, including transcriptomics, genomics, proteomics, metabolomics
  • Programming skills and knowledge in statistical analysis and machine learning would be desirable
  • Ability to work cross-functionally is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and competing demands as well as handling high volumes of work in a changing work environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong publication record in peer reviewed journals
